South Mid-Am Four-Ball Champs Crowned

Brian Johnson and Scott Brassard captured the South Championship at Inverrary Country Club in Lauderhill on June 4-5, 2005.

In the South Championship at Inverrary’s East Course, Brian Johnson, of Coral Springs, and Scott Brassard, of Hollywood, maintained the lead after a two and a half hour weather delay. After a first round score of 7-under par 65, the pair shot a 66 in the second round to take the title with a 131 two-round total. Two teams finished two strokes back from the Champions including defending champions Bill Griffith, of Miami Shores, and Marc Rosenbaum, of Hollywood. Griffith and Rosenbaum carded a 68-66 as Paul Melson, of Plantation, and Steve Sponder, of Cooper City, shot alike rounds.  

he Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championships are each 36 holes of four-ball stroke play. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners, each playing his own ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole. The field is flighted after 18 holes. To be eligible, players must be 25 years of age or older and members of the FSGA.

Inverrary Country Club has two outstanding Robert Trent Jones, Sr. golf courses where the history and tradition of 15 PGA and LPGA tournaments live on. 

ELIGIBILITY

Must be age 25 or older as of May 29, 2004. Both entrants must also be members of the FSGA.

ENTRY FEE

$330 per team. ($320 for online entry.) Includes two competitive rounds, cart fees at competitive rounds and prizes.

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT

36 holes four-ball stroke play.

FLIGHTS

After 18 holes. Number of flights determined after round one.

CARTS

Players are responsible for practice round cart fees.

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

Bill Griffith, of Miami Shores, and Marc Rosenbaum, from Hollywood, claimed the top spot after shooting 68-63—131.
