September 17-18, 2005

Miller & Ernst Capture Mid-Senior Four-Ball South Championship

Jackie Miller and Scott Ernst fired a two-round total 136 to win the Florida State Mid-Senior Four-Ball South Championship at Bay Colony Golf Club in Naples.

Miller and Ernst, both of Naples, shot a two day total 73-63—136 to win by one shot over Andrew Padova, Hudson, and Rick Powers, of Lutz, who fired rounds of 70-67—137. Miller and Ernst, who were playing in the first flight won the overall Championship with a final round 63 that consisted of 10 birdies and 1 bogey. The team of Lee Booker, of Naples, and Marc St. Martin, of Cape Coral, took home third place with a two day total of 70-70—140.

The Championship is 36 holes of four-ball stroke play over the course of two days. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners, each playing his own ball.  The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole. To be eligible for the Mid-Senior Four-Ball Championships, participants must be 40 or older.

Teams of two, each 40 years of age and above, will compete in either the North or South Championship of 36 holes of four-ball stroke play. The Bay Colony Golf Club course offers virtually every type of challenge a golfer could ask for, yet allows for a most enjoyable golfing experience without tee times. Host of the Ace Senior PGA Classic for three years, the Bay Colony Golf Club course was one of the favorite courses of the pros on tour. Bay Colony Golf Club has hosted local and regional US Open qualifiers, the Florida Ladies Senior Tournament and the Mid-Senior Pro Am.
