Fowler, Rudzewicz Prevail in Playoff

John Fowler of Odessa and Wayne Rudzewicz of Tampa won the northern championship with a birdie on the first playoff hole. The duo along with three other teams had combined to shoot a two-day total of 134. three other teams who finished in a tie for second were defending champions Steve Dodson and David Anthony of Jacksonville (67-67); George Gavalas and Victor Gavalas of Tall (65-69); and Glen Davis of Orlando and Jim Byington of Winter Park (69-65).

The Mid-Senior Four-Ball Championships were amateur golfers over the age of 40. The competition used the four-ball stroke play format. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners with each playing their own ball. The lower score of the players is the score for the hole.

The championship was the 13th of 17 state championships conducted annually by the Florida State Golf Association. The FSGA was formed in 1913 to preserve, promote and protect amateur golf in the state.
