Winter Series - LPGA International Golf Course

Tesori, Jones & Lundquist Win at LPGA Intl.


DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In the second-to-last Winter Series event of the season, three players were victorious at LPGA International. Paul Tesori, Douglas Jones and Bobby Lundquist all claimed trophies in Daytona Beach.

Paul Tesori captured the Mid-Amateur division, posting a 2-over 146 for the two-day event. Tesori was in first place with a five-stroke lead following the first round. He carded an even-par 72 on Monday, the best round of the event. 

The Ponte Vedra native shot the low-round of the day on Tuesday, with a 2-over 74. He finished five strokes ahead of runner-up Christopher Anderson. This was Tesori’s fifth Winter Series win and his first since February 2018 at ChampionsGate Country Club. 

Douglas Jones was victorious in the Senior Division, posting a total score of 6-over 150. Jones held a four-stroke lead over the rest of the field after the first round at 3-over 75. The Brandon native carded another 3-over 75 to secure the win. He shot the low-round of the event on both days. 

Jones finished four-strokes ahead of runner-up Keith Nagy. This was Jones’ second Winter Series win of the season, after he won the event at Laurel Oak Country Club in December.

Bobby Lundquist took home the trophy for the super-senior division on Tuesday, his first Winter Series win since ChampionsGate Country Club in February 2018. Lundquist was in a tie for first place following Monday’s play, after posting an even-under 72 in the first round. 

He birdied four holes in the final round to finish with a 1-over 73 and capture the win. The Sanford native posted a total 1-under 145 for the event. Lundquist finished two strokes ahead of runner-ups Jim Carley and Tom Grady.

Eligibility

Entries are open to male amateur golfers who are age 25 or older as of February 26, 2019 and a Regular or Foundation Member of the FSGA.

Entry Fees & Prizes

  • $160 ($170 - members who do not have an active FSGA/GHIN Handicap).
  • Late entries will be accepted subject to a $10 late entry fee should the entrant gain acceptance into the field.
  • Age-group Champions at each event will receive a commemorative award. Gift certificates (totaling approximately $30 per-player in the field) will be awarded to the top finishers in each age group. 

Tee Times

  • Round 1 - 1:00 PM shotgun start - Hills Course 
  • Round 2 - 8:30 AM shotgun start - Jones Course 

Individual Age Divisions & Yardages

There are three age divisions; Mid-Amateur (25-54), Senior (55-64) and Super-Senior (65 & above). Each player must compete in the age division commensurate with their age as of February 26, 2019. Competitors may not elect to play in a different age division or from a different tee than designated.

  • Mid-Amateur (25-54) plays approximately 6,700 yards
  • Senior (55-64) plays approximately 6,400 yards
  • Super-Senior (65 & above) approximately 6,100 yards

**After the first round, each age division may be flighted based on the number of competitors and/or the range of scores.

Practice Rounds & Cost

Practice rounds are available one week prior to the event on a space available basis.  Practice rounds are restricted until after 12:00 PM on weekends.  To arrange your practice round please call the club at 386-274-5742. The cost of a practice round is $40 plus tax.
