Your guest will arrive at the 14-acre riverfront Winter Estate that includes the original furnishings, laboratory and botanical gardens featuring rare and exotic vegetation, a museum of Edison’s inventions, and the country’s largest Banyan tree.  Thomas Edison built his home in 1885, and the close friendship between Edison and Henry Ford brought the auto magnate to Ft. Myers in 1915.  The houses were restored in the 20’s and this tour allows you to get a look at the private life of these two remarkable Americans.

Eco – Tour Of The Everglades

Guests will depart The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point for an exciting and educational tour of one of our natural treasures. The first stop will be at The Big Cypress Preserve, located near a Seminole Indian village. At the Preserve your guests will witness all the flora and fauna in a natural setting. Herons, Egrets, Otters, Bald Eagles, and Alligators all may make an appearance! After leaving the Big Cypress Preserve, your guests will board an authentic Airboat for an exhilarating ride through the saw-grass prairies and old Indian trails. This unforgettable tour will conclude at an Alligator exhibit, for an up close and personal look at The King of The Everglades!!!

Canoe and Kayak Tours

On Estero River

Explore Florida wilderness while paddling westward on the Estero River.  Numerous twists and turns through rustic, tropical surroundings make the four and a half mile paddle to Estero Bay worthwhile for your guests!

Enjoy sightings of ospreys, blue herons, curlews, hawks, occasional eagles and spoonbills, as well as manatees, dolphins, alligators and other local wildlife, plus lush tropical vegetation.  Choose from two different tours:

ESTERO BAY SCRUB TOUR—Designed for nature-loving paddlers of all levels, a trip to the Estero River Scrub, part of the Estero Bay State Aquatic and Buffer Preserve; This three and a half hour adventure affords the opportunity to see and learn about local wildlife that inhabit the river and bay.  A variety of natural habitats can be observed including pine and palmetto uplands as well as mangrove wetlands.

KORESHAN VILLAGE—A turn of the century restored pioneer village along the banks of the Estero River is within easy reach for paddlers of all levels.  This three and a half hour journey into the past includes a walk through the viallage at Koreshan State Historical Site.
