FLORIDA JUNIOR TOUR

TOUR UPDATE (Thursday 2/19, 2004) Entries for the first FJT event (Ritz Carlton – Orlando) closed yesterday at 4:30 PM.  We received over 200 entries and unfortunately we are only able to accept 78 total entries into the event.  Twenty players who have exempt status were accepted into the field, along with 58 other tour members based upon the tour’s entry priority.  We are pleased with the great interest in the first FJT event and we wish everyone could to compete.

Tee Times and Entry Status - All players who submitted entries may check their entry status by visiting the “My FJT” section of the tour website.  You will need to log in to be able to view this area. Pairings, tee times, and an alphabetical list of all players entered into the final field have also been posted to the website.  To see tee times: http://www.floridajuniortour.org/tournaments/showDetail.asp?tID=240

Players Who Were Not Accepted Into the First Event – Please do not contact the office to ask “why” you (or your child) did not gain entry into the first event.  The Tournament Committee followed the “Entry Policies” established at the inception of the Tour.  Please refer to the entry procedures listed on the website for an explanation of how entries were selected.  See http://www.floridajuniortour.org/tournaments/policies.asp

Players Who Entered but Did Not Get Into the First Event - will receive an entry “preference” for a future event.  That “preference” is not a guarantee, but rather, an additional factor that is considered in selecting the field.  Exempt players and those players with exceptional playing credentials will continue to have the best chance of gaining entry.   However, we are working very hard to make sure that everyone has a chance to compete.   Reminder - KEEP YOUR PLAYER BIO UP-TO-DATE

Player Information - Players that were accepted in the final field should review all the information posted on the website to learn more about hotel accommodations, the barbeque and other information.  You should also print out the Parents & Spectators Policy and make sure that it is read by your parents.

MetroWest Event – Additional Course Added Doubling Field Size - For the Tour’s second event, scheduled for April 24th-25th at MetroWest in Orlando, we have added a second course, allowing us to double the field size up to 156 competitors.  The new course, Shingle Creek GC  www.shinglecreekgolf.com  is a new facility in Orlando and it will be used for the boys and girls in the 13-15 age group.  MetroWest will host the boys and girls, ages 16-18.  Our tournament staff reviewed the Shingle Creek course last week and it is very good layout in great condition.  Barbeques and skills contests will be held at both MetroWest and Shingle Creek after the first round on Saturday, April 24th.

In the future, we will rarely run two golf courses on the same weekend.  To accommodate more players we will likely add additional events in the fall to allowing us to split some fields according to age, effectively doubling the field size.

All Players Who Have Entered MetroWest (Ages 13-15)  Your entries have been directed to the Shingle Creek Site.  Final entry decisions will be made during the two weeks leading up to and including the closing date.

Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to adjust to the growing demands of the Tour.
