Bedell Fires 6-Under 66 to Take 54-Hole Lead

What Happened

After 54 holes at The Bear’s Club, Reid Bedell sits at the top of the 105th Amateur Championship leaderboard. Bedell fired a 6-under 66 on Saturday to take an three-shot lead over the field at 9-under 207.

Bedell got off to a quick start in the third round, birdieing three of his first four holes. The University of Kentucky alum added three more birdies on Nos. 6-8 to sit at 5 under for the day. After finding trouble off the ninth tee, Bedell rolled in a 10-foot putt for bogey to make the turn at 7 under for the Championship.

He continued his strong play on the back side, birdieing three of his first four holes on the back nine. Bedell finished with a par on the 18th to take the 54-hole lead.

Alex Vogelsong sits three shots back of Bedell heading into the final round at 6-under 210. The incoming senior at Auburn University carded a third-round 68, finishing the day with eight birdies.

Egor Eroshenko posted a 3-under 69 to sit in third place at 5-under 211, while three players sit in a tie for fourth at 4-under 212: John Daly, Tyler Stachkunas and Brendan Valdes.

The final round of the Amateur Championship will begin Sunday at 8 a.m., where the 105th Amateur champion will be crowned.

Bedell’s third-round 66 is the low round of the Championship.

Vogelsong is the only player in the field to post three under-par rounds for the first 54 holes.

The 17th hole at The Bear’s Club played the hardest in the third round.
