TAMPA, Fla. – For the first time in FSGA history, the Boys’ and Girls’ Junior Championships will collide on one venue, Streamsong Golf Resort, setting the scene for an epic showdown among the state's top junior golfers. Three world-class courses. 258 elite competitors. Three days of battle. And in the end, only two will emerge as champions.
Streamsong Golf Resort
An event of this caliber must have a location equally as significant, and Streamsong Golf Resort fits the bill. Located in Florida’s Bone Valley region, the land that is now home to Streamsong once served as a hub for phosphate mining in the late 1800s, an industry that would go on to shape Central Florida’s economy for over a century.
After Streamsong’s legacy of helping to support communities through phosphate mining, the land was purchased by The Mosaic Company, who would turn Streamsong Golf resort into what it is today, yet another backbone of the state of Florida, just in a much different way.
Streamsong officially opened in January 2013, launching with two nationally ranked courses: Streamsong Red, designed by Coore & Crenshaw, and Streamsong Blue, designed by Tom Doak. Both consistently rank among Florida’s top 10 public golf courses, according to Golf Digest. In 2017, Streamsong Black, designed by Gil Hanse, was added to the roster, earning Golf Digest’s “Best New Public Course of 2018” boasting its own clubhouse and personality.
Together, these three courses will serve as the proving ground for the 71st Boys’ Junior and 66th Girls’ Junior Championships. And as these Florida junior golfers tee it up, they’re not just playing a Championship, they’re playing on a canvas hundreds of years in the making.
A Look Into the Field
As we inch closer to teeing off, there are some notable players in the field who have a good chance at reclaiming this land as their own.
71st Boys’ Junior Championship
Among the top contenders is Shawn Coultoff of Winter Garden, the 68th Boys’ Junior Champion. Coultoff is seeking a second title before beginning his collegiate career at Florida State University, the site of his Boys’ Junior Championship in 2022.
Chase Bauer enters with strong momentum, having captured two FJT wins and three additional top-10 finishes this season. He’s also set to compete on the national stage at the 77th U.S. Junior Amateur at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
The reigning Boys’ Junior Player of the Year, Clipper Salmon, is also a name to watch. A Tampa native, Salmon is familiar with the terrain, having medalled in stroke play at last year’s Junior Match Play Championship on Streamsong Blue while making a run to the Final Match.
The Crowe brothers, Oscar and Henry, return to Steamsong hoping to recapture the magic of last summer when the pair became the first brothers to win their respective divisions at the Junior Match Play Championship.
Other highly ranked players in the field include Lorenzo Rodriguez, Parker Severs and William Lisle. Rodriguez and Severs are set to make their final FSGA start as Juniors before starting their collegiate careers at Wake Forest and Florida, respectively.
66th Girls’ Junior Championship
Leading the girls’ field is Sophia Dyer, the reigning Girls’ Junior Player of the Year and 2024 Women’s Amateur Champion. Dyer advanced to the quarterfinals in this year’s Women’s Amateur and reached the semifinals at the 2025 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball alongside partner Bella Dovhey. She currently leads the 2025 Girls’ Junior Player of the Year points race and is committed to the University of Florida.
Emma McKoan, last year's champion, is looking to defend her title this year. In 2024, McKoan was the FJT Points List Champions for the (Girls 13-15), competing in seven FJT events and only finishing outside of the top 10 once. The 2028 capitalized on her victory last year at Pelican Golf Club by taking her US Girls’ Junior Championship exemption and advancing to match play at the Championship.
Iris Lee is the youngest competitor in the field, but you wouldn’t know it if just looking at her accolades. Instead of defending her championship at the Futures, Iris has risen to being a real threat to win the Girls' Junior Championship just a year later and is still only 12 years old. Just this week, she outlasted many players in next week’s field to secure a spot in the US Girls’ Junior Championship through qualifying.
Alexandra Snyder returns to Streamsong after winning the 2024 Junior Match Play Championship. The Orlando native looks to use her expertise of the course to her advantage this year. Like Iris Lee, Snyder is a past Futures Champion who has made her presence known at multiple FSGA Championships in a short time.
From July 1 - 3, the stage is set for a landmark week at Streamsong Golf Resort. Only two will emerge as champions of the 71st Boys’ Junior and 66th Girls’ Junior Championships. Stay tuned, this is one you won’t want to miss!
