Player Spotlight: Miles Ahead

Tampa, Fla. - New year, same Miles McConnell. McConnell seemingly did not skip a beat heading into the 2024 season and picked up where he left off in 2023. So far, he has already secured a second place finish at the 69th Gasparilla Invitational, and he captured a victory at the Gateway Senior Invitational. In addition, McConnell and partner, Paul Royak, grabbed a win at the Winter Series Four-Ball event.

With the championship season almost upon us at the FSGA, McConnell has certainly proven that he is a player to beat. The 63rd Senior Amateur Championship is set for April 16-18 at Innisbrook Resort, and only a few weeks later the 47th Senior Open will be played at Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club. McConnell is expected to be a name on the leaderboard. “There are a lot of outstanding seniors in Florida and a lot of great competition. I still take pride in the fact that on some days, I can compete with the young guys. But it’s also fun to compete with the seniors and I look forward to doing that for years to come.” McConnell said after earning Senior Player of the Year honors.

Moreover, McConnell has over fifteen FSGA victories and he has earned Senior Player of the Year honors for the past three consecutive years. Some of these victories include championships such as the Senior Amateur Championship, Senior Amateur Match Play Championship, Senior Four-Ball Championship, and the Forty & Over Championship. In addition, McConnell helped his team to victory as a member of the Southeastern Challenge team and the Florida Cup team.
