Mixed Shoot-Out

October 10-11, 2015

The Mixed Shoot-Out, held at Eagle Creek Golf & Country Club in Naples, consists of three different formats. The first round is a scramble, followed by a second round Chapman (modified alternate-shot), and round three is four-ball stroke play. The teams would play a scramble for nine holes and then switch to modified alternate shot for their second nine holes on the first day. On Sunday the players would tee it up in four-ball stroke play format.

After round one in the Championship Division, the team of Gary Blackwell and Susie Fonde dominated the field. Blackwell and Fonde, of Jacksonville, fired a 30 in
scramble format and followed it up with a 34 in modified alternate-shot for a day one eight-under par, 64. The duo carded an impressive six birdies for the day! Daniel and Jennifer Udd followed behind in second place with a day one 71 (-1), seven shots from first.

The Forward Division saw a closer race at the top of the leaderboard compared to the Championship Division. In first place by one stroke was the team of David and Nora Faller, of Naples with a 33-35—68 (-4). Raymond and Kay Landry, of Lake Mary followed close behind in second place with a day one total three-under par, 69. Pete and Sheila DeLongchamp would enter Sunday in third place, after a day one score of 70, one stroke ahead of three teams tied for fourth place.

Blackwell and Fonde went wire-to-wire and fired a final round 73 for a tournament total 137 and a five-stroke victory in the Championship Division. Matthew and Sarah Matin, of Winter Garden came from behind with an impressive three-under, 69, in Four-Ball format to finish tied for second. Jennifer and Daniel Udd tied the
Matin’s with a final round 71, tournament total 142. The Forward Division also crowned a wire-to-wire Champion with David and Nora Faller capturing first place by four-strokes. The Faller’s shot a one-over par, 73 in round three for a tournament total 141. Charles and Belinda Walters, of Bradenton crept up to tied for second place with a final round three-under par, tournament total 145. Two other teams finished tied for second including the DeLongchamp’s and MookSang’s.

The Mixed Shoot-Out also awards Net Winners. Mark and Liz Elliott, of Jensen Beach earned the net title after rounds of 31-32—122. Coming in second place with a 125 net total were Forward Division Champions, David and Nora Faller. Championship Flight winners, Gary Blackwell and Susie Fonde captured a net third place with rounds of 29-32—129.

Championship Format

  • Maximum of 40 teams; 80 players
  • Saturday: 9 holes of Scramble format and 9 holes of modified alternate shot (Chapman format)
  • Sunday: 18 holes of four-ball stroke play

Eligibility

  • At least one entrant of each team must be a member of the FSGA.
  • Both players must have a valid USGA GHIN Handicap.
  • Teams consist of one male and one female.

Entry Fee

$300 per team - Entry fee includes all competitive rounds and cart fees, awards luncheon after play on Sunday, tee gifts, and gift certificate prizes

Late entries will be accepted subject to a $10 late entry fee should the entrant gain acceptance into the field

Entry Priority

Entries will be accepted based upon the order of receipt. Entries received after the competitive field is full or after the close of entries, will be placed on an alternates list. Alternates will be contacted in
the order of receipt of entry, if and when, a spot becomes available.

Championship Divisions

Teams may select to play in either:

  • Championship Division: Men - 6,500 yards/ Women - 5,700 yards (Gross & Net)
  • Forward Division: Men - 6,200 yards/Women - 5,200 yards (Gross & Net)

Tee Times

  • Saturday - 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM tee times off 1st & 10th tees
  • Sunday - 8:00 AM shotgun

Handicaps

The handicap revision of October 1, 2015 will used to establish course handicaps.

The tournament will use the USGA's recommendation of:

Saturday (Scramble Format)

  •  The player with the lower Course Handicap is allowed 35 percent of his
    Course Handicap.

  • The player with the higher Course Handicap is allowed 15
    percent of his Course Handicap.

Saturday (Modified Alternate Shot/Chapman)

  • The player with the lower Course Handicap is allowed 60 percent of his Course Handicap.
  • The player with the higher Course Handicap is allowed 40 percent of his Course Handicap. 

Sunday (Four-Ball Stroke Play)

  • Men receive 90% of their course handicap
  • Women receive 95% of their course handicap
  • If there is a difference of more than eight strokes between the two members of a team, an additional 10% reduction will be applied to the course handicap of each member of the side.

A tie for first place gross in the Championship Division will be decided by a hole-by-hole playoff. Ties for first place net in both divisions and gross in the Forward Division will be broken by match of cards using a modified USGA recommended method.

Practice Rounds

No practice rounds are available until after October 1st on a space available basis.  Practice rounds may be played after 12:00 PM on the weekends. The price for a practice round is $35+ tax per player. Please call (239) 774-2202 to arrange your practice round. The proper place to practice your golf swing is on the driving range, hitting multiple shots on the course is unacceptable.

Carts

Carts are included for all competitive rounds. Players are responsible for practice round fees.

Defending Champions

Meghan Stasi and Kevin Hammer combined to capture the Championship Division while Carol Kilean and Chris Berens grabbed top honors in the Forward Division of the 2014 Mixed-Team Shootout at Santa Lucia River Club in Port St. Lucie, October 4-5.
