Parent-Child Championship (9-holer)

ORLANDO, Fla. – More than 500 competitors teed it up at this year’s Parent-Child Championship, competing across five golf courses in the Orlando area and spanning seven age divisions. The 9-hole Championship took place at ChampionsGate Country Club.

Three teams emerged as champions in their respective divisions:

  • David Perritt & David Perritt (10-12)
  • Jeff Golden & Greta Golden (8-9)
  • Rick Vaders & Jason Vaders (6-7)

The nine-hole parent-child tournament used a Stableford scoring method, the three divisions, (6-7), (8-9), and (10-12), competed in nine holes each day.

10-12 Division

David and David Perritt came out on top in the 10-12 Division after a chip-off playoff, edging out James and Andrew Cohen to claim the title. The Perritts tallied rounds of 30-26 for a total of 56 stableford points, sealing the win with a pinpoint chip in the playoff. James and Andrew Cohen also finished with 56 points to take second place, while Nicholas and Austin Lucas secured third with 54 points.

8-9 Division

Jeff and Greta Golden went for gold in the (8-9) Division with 58 total points. The duo shot rounds of 31-27 to finish two strokes ahead of the field. John and Roman Addorio finished in second place with 56 points, and in third were Logan and Ryder Blondell with 54 total points.  

6-7 Division

Rick and Jason Vaders were victorious in the (6-7) Division after rounds of 24-22 to earn them 46 total points. Chase and Nick Campbell finished second place with 44 total points, while Chris and Matthew Condello took third place with 42 total points.

Tournament Summary

Format:  18 holes (9 holes each day) of gross Modified Alternate Shot

Eligibility Parent/Child Teams (defined below)

  • At least one player must be an FSGA member and child between ages 6-12 as of the last day of the tournament

Championship Format

  • 18 holes (9 holes each day) of gross Modified Alternate Shot with Stableford scoring
  • Teams will be placed in an Age Division by child's age as of the last day of the Championship
  • Modified Alternate Shot
    • Both players hit their tee shots
    • Next, both players hit the second shot with their partner's ball
    • After each ball has been played twice, the team chooses which ball it will use to complete the hole hitting alternate shots into the hole
    • Scoring will be gross modified stableford within age divisions
  • Modified Stablefor Scoring
    • Double-Bogey - 1 point
    • Bogey - 2 points
    • Par - 3 points
    • Birdie - 4 points
    • Eagle - 5 points
    • Double-Eagle - 6 points

Eligibility

  • Male and Female amateur golfers - See the FSGA’s Competitive Fairness Gender Policy
  • At least one entrant of each team must be a member of the FSGA
  • Child must be age 6 or older as of the last day of the Championship
  • A child 6-12 years of age can move up to the Regular Division, but a child age 13 or older may not move down.
  • Professionals may play and are eligible for trophies or prizes
  • Grandparents may also play with grandchildren
  • Only two-person teams are permitted

Entry Fee

  • $160
  • Late entries will be accepted subject to a $10 late entry fee should the entrant gain acceptance into the field

Schedule of Events

  • 8:30 AM Shotgun - All Age Divisions Both Days
    • Teams will play opposite nine on Sunday, July 27th. 

Entry Priority

  • Entries will be accepted based upon the order of receipt
  • Entries received after each nine-hole shotgun is full or after the close of entries, will be placed on an alternates list.
    • Alternates will be contacted in the order of receipt of entry, if and when, a spot becomes available
  • The Championships Committee reserves the right to hold a number of spots for past champions, and players with standing on annual and two-year points lists until the entry close date

Age Divisions

  • Teams will be placed in Divisions according to the child's age as of the last day of the Championship - There will be no gender-based divisions
    • Ages 6-7
    • Ages 8-9
    • Ages 10-12

Championship Practice Rounds

  • Available at the discounted 9-hole rate of $30 plus tax per adult player, $10 plus tax per child player; or an 18-hole rate of $50 plus tax per adult player, $15 plus tax per child player. Available one week prior to the event and after 10:00 AM the weekend prior on a space available basis. Please call (407) 507-2756 to reserve a tee time.
