Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Crowns North Champion

Steve Carter and Andy Purnell recorded a final round 65 to win the Mid-Amateur Four-Ball North Championship at Windsor Parke Golf Club in Jacksonville on May 31 – June 1.  

Steve Carter and Andy Purnell won the North Championship posting a tournament total of 131. Carter, of St. Augustine, and Purnell, from Jacksonville, carded a first round 66 to share the lead with two other teams.In the final round, the 2005 Four-Ball Champions came out strong and bettered their first round score by one to win the title by four strokes. Three teams shared second place honors at 135 including first round co-leaders David Anthony, from Jacksonville, and Ken Moody, of Ponte Vedra Beach. Duke Butler, from Ponte Vedra Beach, and Will Sprague, of Jacksonville, shot a 70-65 to tie for second place as the Jacksonville team of Mark Taylor and Tim Haug also finished at 135.

ELIGIBILITY: 
 Must be age 25 or older as of May 31, 2008. Both entrants must also be members of the FSGA.

ENTRY FEE:  $320 ($340 - members who do not have an active FSGA/GHIN Handicap).

ENTRIES CLOSE:  Wednesday, April 30

CHAMPIONSHIP:  36 holes four-ball stroke play.  The lowest team score for 36 holes will be the Champion. If necessary, there will be a hole by hole play-off to determine the champion. It is the player’s responsibility to be present for any play

FLIGHTS:  After 18 holes. The number of flights will be based on the number of teams and/or the range of scores.

CARTS:  Carts are included for all competitive rounds. Players are responsible for practice round fees.

SPECTATORS AND CADDIES: Spectators and caddies are always welcome at FSGA Championships. Only players are allowed to ride in carts.  If a player employs a caddie, the caddie MUST walk and the player’s clubs must remain on the golf cart.

CONDITIONS; SCHEDULES – The FSGA Championships Committee/on-site Rules Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions, provisions and/or schedules.  The decision of the Championships Committee/on-site Rules Committee in any matter will be final.

COURSE SET-UP:  The golf course will be set-up approximately 6700-6900 yards.

REGISTRATION TABLE: There will be a registration table set up in front of the pro shop. All contestants are requested to check in.

PRACTICE ROUND: Practice rounds are available one week prior to the championship.  Practice rounds may be played after 2:00 PM on the weekend.  The price for your practice round is $35.00 + tax; if a player plays a practice round before 2:00 PM on the weekend prior the cost will be AT Windsor Parke Golf Club's regular weekend rate.  Please call (904) 223-4653 to arrange your practice round.  The proper place to practice your golf swing is on the driving range, hitting multiple shots on the course is unacceptable.

SCORE CARDS: Only one of the partners per team need sign the score card and each score to count must be individually identifiable.  See Rule 31–3.

DIRECTIONS TO WINDSOR PARKE GOLF CLUB:

From the Beaches & Ponte Vedra area - Take A1A to J. Turner Butler Blvd (also know as JTB or State Road 202) heading West. Get off at the Hodges Blvd. exit - turn right onto Hodges Blvd. go to the 2nd light and turn right into the Windsor Parke community. Follow the signs to the clubhouse up on the left.

From the Airport - Leaving the airport follow the signs to I 95 south. Take I 95 heading South to the 9A east exit on right. stay on 9A until you hit J. Turner Butler (also know as JTB or State Road 202)- go east on JTB to the Hodges Blvd exit. Turn left to Hodges Blvd. Travel to the 2nd red light and turn right into the Windsor Parke community, Follow the signs to the clubhouse up on the left.

From St. Augustine / World Golf Village - Take I 95 heading North. Exit at the 9A exit and Travel to the J. Turner Butler exit (also know as JTB or State Road 202). Go east on J. Turner Butler to the Hodges Blvd exit. Turn left to Hodges Blvd. Travel to the 2nd red light and turn right into the Windsor Parke community, Follow the signs to the clubhouse up on the left.
