Winter Series Stableford - The Club at Eaglebrooke

The Club at Eaglebrooke - Lakeland

February 7-8, 2022

LAKELAND, Fla. - The FSGA Winter Series stopped in Lakeland at The Club at Eaglebrooke on Monday and Tuesday. This was the second Stableford format of the season. Alex Bury was victorious in the Mid-Amateur division, Jerry Rose won in the Senior division, and Jim Stone brought home the Super-Senior win. All three won their first FSGA Winter Series event Tuesday.

Mid-Amateur

Bury, of Tampa, found himself two stableford points behind Ryan Prokay heading into Tuesday's final round. Bury's six birdies helped force a playoff with Prokay, of Bradenton, after 36 holes. The two both finished play with 89 total points. He made his seventh birdie of the day on the first playoff hole, defeating Prokay.

In third place was Troy Vannucci, of Palm Coast, with 86 points.

Senior

Rose, a Sarasota resident, got off to a commanding lead on Monday, totaling 50 stableford points in round one. Tuesday's tough conditions limited his scoring in round two, but his 83 points were still enough to secure his victory.

Behind Rose were Steve Horner and John Barry, of Ponte Vedra Beach and University Park, respectively. Horner and Barry tied for second place in the Senior division with 76 points.

Super-Senior

Stone, also from Sarasota, fired two consistent rounds of 39-36 to take home the Super-Senior win with 75 total points. Carey Watson, of Plantation, also had two steady rounds. His pair of 37s earned him second-place in the Super-Senior division.

In third place was Dennis Bush of Lakewood Ranch. Bush scored 42 points on Monday and 27 on Tuesday for a total of 69 points and a third-place finish.
