Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship (South)

Kensington Golf & Country Club - Naples

September 10-11, 2022

TAMPA, Fla. - Two teams took home wins at the Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championships on Sunday. The duo of Marc Dull and Tiger Godwin captured the North victory at The Conservatory at Hammock Beach, while Austin Powell and Jonah Wasserstrom picked up the win at Kensington Golf & Country Club.

North

On a perfect day for golf in September, Marc Dull and Tiger Godwin got off to a blistering start. The duo birdied six of their first seven holes on Saturday take a firm grip on the lead en route to an opening nine 7-under 29. Johnny Watts and Pablo Mena were doing their best to not let Dull and Godwin get too far ahead. An eagle from Mena on the 18th hole at the Conservatory gave them a 5-under 31 to get their Championship started. However, Dull and Godwin would not let up in Round 1 as they finished with a 13-under 59. The duo had 14 birdies between the two of them and Dull had 10 himself. They would lead by 4 shots headed into the final round as Watts and Mena finished at 9-under 63 Saturday.

The final few groups on Sunday got off to a slow start, allowing Dull and Godwin to continue their lead even while playing the front nine in 1-under 35. Birdies on the 10th hole from both partners got the pair of FSGA Champions going in Round 2. Birdies on the 13th and 17th to go with an eagle on the drive-able par-4 15th was enough to hold off the charging teams of Kevin Dutkowsky and Mike Finster along with Brendon Ehlers and Matthew Giovannelli. Dull and Godwin's 66 in Round 2 gave them a two-day total of 19-under 125 which would be enough for a five shot victory. Kevin Dutkowsky and Mike Finster would finish in second place at 14-under 130.

South

The 2020 Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Champions were back to fight for another Championship as Marc France and Carl Santos-Ocampo took the early lead at Kensington Golf & Country Club. The duo's 64 included 8 birdies on the par-71 course in Naples. Four teams would be within one shot going into Sunday's final round as the teams all finished with 6-under 65s on Saturday.

On Sunday, if you weren't making birdies early and often you were losing ground. 2022 Forty & Over Four-Ball Champions Joe Alfieri and Daniel Debra came out looking to get back in the chase as they carded a 28 on the front nine. However, it would be Jonah Wasserstrom and Austin Powell who would come out of the final group to take the lead. Wasserstrom would birdie three holes in a row on #2-4 and Powell got it going through the turn with birdies on 9, 10, 12 and 13. The duo would finish at 10-under 61 which would allow them to come back to take the Championship at a two-day total of 16-under 126. Alfieri and Debra's final round 60 would put them in second place for the Championship, two back of Powell and Wasserstrom.
