FJT at Plantation G&CC (13-15)

Plantation Golf & Country Club - Bobcat Course, Venice, FL

August 20-21, 2016

Taylor Zeng and Max Coutsolioutsos earn their first FJT victories at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice.

Taylor Zeng has spent years watching her older sisters compile loads of FJT crystal trophies and now Taylor, at the age of 13, joins them with her first FJT victory. One of the prize possessions on the FJT is the highly coveted "FJT Champion" Ping golf bag given to each winner. Taylor's older sisters Courtney and Kelsey earned their bags long ago. Before this weekend's tournament at Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice, Taylor's golf bag broke and she had to borrow her sister's FJT Champion Bag. After dropping a 10 foot birdie on the second playoff hole, Taylor earned her very own Champion Bag and can now return her sisters. Her oldest sister Courtney, now plays for Vanderbilt and older sister Kelsey is still a junior and has committed to Stanford.

Taylor took the first round lead with a 72, but had many girls within a few shots of her lead. Casey Weidenfeld caught fire on Sunday and shot a tournament low 69 to post 143 (-1). Playing behind Casey, Taylor knew she needed a good round to secure her first victory. When she walked in to the scoring area she saw Casey's 69 on the board and knew they needed more holes to determine a winner. After solid play from both in the playoff Taylor gets her first victory and can stand beside her sisters as an FJT Champion.

Karoline Tuttle, just 12 years old, fired a 70 in the final round to grab 3rd place with a 145 (+1) total.

In the boys division Max Coutsolioutsos and Joshua Perna jumped out to an early lead with rounds of 67 and 68 respectfully. In the final round both Max and Joshua got off to rough start. Only Max was able to rebound on the back nine to shoot 38-34--72 and post 139 (-5) for a six shot victory and his first FJT title. Peyton Billings and Carson Moran came from way back on Sunday to tie for second. Peyton shot 75-70--145 and Carson shot 77-68--145.
