Third Title for Ethridge and Wolfe

The team of Bob Ethridge and Rick Woulfe fired a final round nine-under par 63 to capture the 37th Senior Four-Ball Championship as Ron Cleland and Edward Craig captured the Super Senior Division at Lago Mar Country Club, in Plantation, on October 11-12.

The team of Bob Ethridge and Rick Woulfe posted a seven-under par 65 in the first round to go along with their final round nine-under par 63, to post a tournament total of 16-under par 128, to win the 2011 Championship by three strokes.  This is their third Senior Four-Ball Championship.  With their win, Ethridge and Woulfe earned an exemption into the 2012 Four-Ball Championship held at Interlachen Country Club, in Winter Park.  The team of Steve Earsley, of Hobe Sound, and Doug LaCrosse, of Tampa, finished alone in second place after rounds of 65-66, for a tournament total of 13-under par 131. The duo from Orlando, Charles Bailes and Glen Davis, finished in third place with a tournament total of 132.

In the Super Senior Division, the team of Ron Cleland, of Naples, and Edward Craig, of Orlando, came from behind to win their division by three strokes.  Cleland and Craig posted rounds of 68-64 to finish the event with a tournament total of 12-under par 132. Edward Garver, of Land O’ Lakes, and Ben Kenny, of Alpharetta, finished alone in second place with a tournament total of nine-under par 135. The team of Eduardo Erana, of Miami and Lincoln Rodon, of Coral Gables, and the duo from The Villages, Rick Tuck and Ebba Wiechowski, finished tied for third place with a tournamant total of six-under par 138.

The golf course at Lago Mar Country Club recently completed a major renovation performed by award-winning architect Kipp Schulties. The course now stretches over 7000 yards and features Tif-Eagle Bermuda greens. In addition to over 50 new style bunkers throughout the course, the entire golf course has been totally re-landscaped with many types of native trees, plants, and ornamental grasses. Lago Mar Country Club provides all golfers with a challenging, rewarding experience and the pure thrill that comes from the game of golf.

ELIGIBILITY

Must be age 55 or older as of October 11, 2011, and both entrants must be members of the FSGA.

ENTRY FEE

$320 ($340 - members who do not have an active FSGA/GHIN Handicap).

CHAMPIONSHIP

36 holes of four-ball stroke play.  The lowest team score for 36 holes in each division will be the Champion. If necessary, there will be a hole by hole play-off to determine the champion in each division. It is the player's responsibility to be present for any play-off.

52 teams; 104 players

COURSE SET- UP

The golf course will be set-up approximately 6400-6500 yards (Senior) and 6100-6200 yards (Super Senior).

FLIGHTS

After 18 holes. The number of flights will be based on the number of teams and/or the range of scores.

PRACTICE ROUNDS

Practice rounds are available one week prior to the championship.  Practice rounds may be played after 12:00 PM on the weekend.   The price for a practice round is $30.00 + tax.  Please call (954) 472-7047 to arrange your practice round.  The proper place to practice your golf swing is on the driving range, hitting multiple shots on the course is unacceptable.

DIVISIONS

55-64 (Senior), 65 and over (Super-Senior). All teams will compete in the age division commensurate with the youngest player's age as of the first day of the Championship.

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

Randy Briggs and Berger Warner shot 65-66--131 at Amelia National Golf Club to claim the overall title. Jim DuBois and Bob Rogoff won the Super-Senior Division by firing rounds of 65-69--134.

CARTS

Carts are included for all competitive rounds. Players are responsible for practice round fees.

SPECTATORS AND CADDIES

Spectators and caddies are always welcome at FSGA Championships. Only players are allowed to ride in carts.  If a player employs a caddie, the caddie MUST walk and the player's clubs must remain on the golf cart.

SCORECARDS

Only one of the partners per team need sign the score card and each score to count must be individually identifiable.  See Rule 31-3.

The FSGA Championships Committee/on-site Rules Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions, provisions and/or schedules.  The decision of the Championships Committee/on-site Rules Committee in any matter will be final.
