Eagle Creek Golf & Country Club - Naples

October 15-16, 2016

Saturday saw four red numbers from both the girls’ and boys’ division after a day of perfect weather at Eagle Creek Golf and Country Club. Caroline Hwang, who is coming off of a win at Southern Dunes in September, took the early lead with a two under-par, 70. Jillian Bourdage, of Tamarac, Lauren Waidner, of Fleming Island, and Sarah May, of Fleming Island, were chasing the lead not far behind tied for second place with a one under-par, 71. Four shots back in fifth place sat Yurika Tanida, of Port Saint Lucie, and Maria Lozawould would head into round two in sixth place with a round one 75.

In the boys’ division Kritsarin Oukosavanna, of Boca Raton, was seeking his first FJT win after finishing tied for second in August at Sandridge Golf Club. After an impressive first round of three under-par 69, Kritsarin had the lead by one stroke over David Gao and Jayson Iten who were tied for second. Luke Farmer, of Estero, claimed fourth place at one under-par 71 while Amadeo Figus and Shane Reynolds tied for fifth at even par.

Round two crowned Jillian Bourdage victorious after another under-par round of 70 on Sunday. Bourdage started her final round strong with two birdies in her first five holes and finished with an even par back nine to clinch the win with a 141 total (-3). Yurika Tanida posted the low score for the girls’ division with a 69, due to four birdies and one bogey, to capture second place with a 143 (-1) total. Sarah May and Caroline Hwang tied for third place with an even par total of 144. This marks Bourdage’s first FJT win and a spot in the Tour Championship.

Kritsarin sealed his win on day two along with picking up some new hardware and a golf bag! He posted the low round of the boys’ division in round one with a 69 and followed it up with an even par 72 in round two for a 141 (-3) total and one stroke win. Kritsarin’s birdie on hole 18 sealed his first FJT victory and spot in the Tour Championship. Luke Farmer finished in second place with a consistent second round of 71 for a 142 (-2) total. Amadeo Figus rounded out the top three with rounds of 72-73 for a 145 total.

Constructed in 1984, the 18-hole championship golf course at Eagle Creek Golf and Country Club offers a challenging adventure through Southwest Florida’s native landscape and environment. The course was originally designed by renowned golf course architect Larry Packard who is considered to be the father of the dreaded double dogleg and one of only three golf course architects to ever receive the Distinguished Service Award by the American Society of Golf Course Architects. Larry is also the architect for the Copperhead course at Innisbrook Resort. With Bermuda fairways and Tifeagle greens, this golf course will be a challenge as the Florida Junior Tour heads to Eagle Creek G&CC.
