Women's Four-Ball Championship

Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club - Sarasota

May 31 - June 1

Cannon and Gardner Win at Women's Four-Ball

SARASOTA, Fla. - Heritage Oaks served as the host of this year's Women’s Four-Ball Championship. With its penalizing rough, and tough-to-read greens, it made for a more than suitable site for the Four-Ball Championship. With summer storms being a factor on both days of the championship, it only made the already difficult course even more frustrating. With a strong field and tough conditions, it was Evyn Cannon and Ella Gardner who would hoist the trophy high at the 2025 Women’s Four-Ball Championship.

Championship Division

After a 15-minute delay to start the day, and a 45-minute delay shortly after, players finally began to find a groove amongst the downpour. The position of first would change hands several times throughout the day. The team of Kono and Tjon would start strong, carding two birdies on their first two holes. Past champions Sullivan and Remaklus would try to continue their momentum from last year, carding two under on the back nine. However, it was the team of Tabitha Hanely and Kelly Shanahan who would grab first after round one, carding three birdies, putting them at three-under on the day. The team of Evyn Cannon and Ella Gardner, as well as McKinley Holding and Darby Hancock, would sit one off the lead in second. Remaklus and Sullivan, and the sister duo of Natalie and Ashleigh Angelo, would sit in a tie for fourth at two off the lead. With one round left, and similar weather forecasted for round two, it was anyone's game.

Evyn Cannon and Ella Gardner saw an opportunity this morning and decided to seize it. The pair would go two under through nine, taking the lead by two over Cambree Hodge and Emma Wells, who played their first nine holes at two under par. As the day charged on, so did Wells and Hodge, putting themselves one stroke off the lead with five holes left to play. Cannon and Gardner would make a birdie on the 18th hole to seal the deal and win by two. Cambree Hodge and Emma Wells’s efforts would not go unnoticed, as they would capture second place. There would be a three-way tie for third with past champions, Alexandra Remaklus and McKenzee Sullivan, Kelly Shanahan and Tabitha Hanely, and McKinley Holding and Darby Hancock.

Middle Division

Alizee Vidal and Juliana Adler, as well as Kassandra Walton and Heidi Demel, would both sit tied for the lead in the middle division after carding two under. The team of Vidal and Adler would card five birdies on the day, while the team of Walton and Demel would card six. This would make for an exciting round two.

Juliana Adler and Alizee Vidal would start their day off strong with two birdies in their first three holes, taking sole possession of the lead. The pair would continue to play steady golf, posting 10 straight pars. Kassandra Walton and Heidi Demel had a few setbacks early on, but an eagle on hole 14 would put them back at just two back with five holes left to play. After all was said and done, Alizee Vidal and Juliana Adler would claim victory in the middle division.

In the Middle First Division, Janet Van Slyke and Rita West would hold the lead by three heading into round two. The pair would continue to dominate in round two, winning the middle first division by five shots.

Suggested Handicap Guidelines

The following should be considered when selecting divisions (recommended based on combined team handicaps).

  • Championship Division - 18.0 & Under
  • Middle Division - 34.0 & Under
    • Committee Discretion: The Championship Committee reserves the right to move any team out of the Middle Division if their team handicap (or an individual partner's handicap) is significantly lower than the majority of the competitors in that division, and their scoring history does not reflect the need to play from the Middle Division yardage.

Flighting

  • The Championship Division is gross only and will not be flighted.
  • The Middle Division will be pre-flighted based on combined team handicaps.
  • Generally, divisions of more than 12 teams will be pre-flighted. Flights will be based on the number of teams and the range of combined team handicaps.

Breaking Ties

  • Championship Division – In the event of a tie for first place, there will be a hole-by-hole sudden death playoff on a hole designated by the Committee to determine the Champions.
  • Middle Division – All ties in each flight of the Middle Division will be broken by the FSGA tie breaking method (Modified USGA). The final day 18 hole score will be used. If there is still a tie, the last 9 holes of the last day (10-18). If there is still a tie, the last 6 holes are used (13-18), then if needed the last 3 holes (16-18), then the final hole (18). In the case that players are still tied after the 18th hole, the winner will be determined by lot (coin flip).
  • Middle Division will pay gross first, then net.
