Shaw and Green Find Victory at Inverarry

Jaye Marie GreenSawyer Shaw and Jaye Marie Green grabbed first place honors to capture their respective titles at the Florida Junior Tour’s (FJT) Inverrary Country Club, in Lauderhill, November 14-15.

Sawyer Shaw, of West Palm Beach, carded a two over par 74 in the first round and continued his solid play in the second round firing a three under par 69 for a tournament total of 1-under par 143 total, giving Shaw a one stroke victory. Shaw carded the low round of the tournament in the final round in near perfect conditions in route to his second FJT victory. In the 2009 FJT season Shaw has yet to finish outside the top 4 in his first five events of the season. Domenico Geminiani, of Bradenton, who was the first round leader after carding a two under par 70 in the first round, grabbed second place honors posting a tournament total of one over par 145. Davis Hall, of Windermere finished alone in third place with a tournament total of 3 over par 147.

Jaye Marie Green, of Boca Raton fired a final round one under par 71 to win her first FJT title. In the final round Green played a solid round of golf, recording the low round of the tournament for the girls division, giving Green a one stroke victory. Nicole Quinn, of Windermere, finished alone in second place with a tournament total of 148. Madison Opfer, of Plant City finished in third place with a tournament total of 151.

Inverrary Country Club has three outstanding Robert Trent Jones, Sr. golf courses where the history and tradition of 15 PGA and LPGA tournaments live on! You can play our famed signature East Course, where champions like Jack Nicklaus, Johhny Miller, Lee Trevino, Tom Kite, Hale Irwin and Tom Weiskopf have walked and won!

Our West Course is a Championship layout, and is one of Robert Trent Jones' favorite designs. For those who want to have some real fun.

Centrally located in Broward County (Ft. Lauderdale), with easy access from the Florida Turnpike and I-95, our two impeccably maintained championship courses all boast the best greens in the area. Both courses are characterized by multiple tees, strategically placed bunkers, and picturesque water features.

Eligibility
Male or female amateur golfers that are members of the FJT may apply for participation. Entries are subject to rejection at any time, including during the event by the FJT. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming behavior. Please see the Code of Conduct for further details.

Application Procedure

  • Tournament applications must be submitted on-line at www.floridajuniortour.org. Telephone and fax requests will not be accepted.
  • Applicants must be current FJT members.
  • Entries must be received by 4:30:00 PM EST of the closing date.
  • Players should read the Tournament Policies and Pace of Play policy.
  • Players will receive an e-mail that their entry has been received and a second e-mail will be sent if the player is accepted into the field. As a player is not automatically confirmed into the tournament, travel arrangements should not be made until the second confirmation e-mail is received. Review Tournament Policies for further details.

Field Determination

  • Players with an unused FJT exemption will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Players without an FJT exemption are automatically placed in a random draw. The random draw is held after the entry deadline.
  • An alternates list will be posted to the FJT website under the Tee Times & Info folder.

Entry Fee
The entry fee of $95 (for GHIN members) or $115 (for non GHIN members) includes tournament rounds of golf, range balls prior to the tournament rounds and a tee prize.

Schedule of Play
Saturday, November 14th:  10:00 AM  - 12:27 PM off 1st and 10th tees
Sunday, November 15:  7:30 AM - 9:27 AM off 1st and 10th tees

Practice Round
Players can set up a practice round at a special discounted rate of $35 plus tax by calling 954-676-5000. Times are available one week prior to the tournament and & 12:00 PM on the weekend on a space available basis. Parents may play for $45 plus tax.

Walking and Pull Carts
Players must walk and carry their clubs during the competition rounds. Pull carts are permitted. Caddies are not permitted.

Tees To Play
Tees are not set until the tournament staff arrives on site. Tournament set up can change, including yardages, to offset inclement weather or other course conditions (i.e. wet course conditions). Typical yardages are below:

  • Boys 16-18 will play approximately 6,900 yards
  • Girls 16-18 will play approximately 6,000 yards

Registration
Registration will be available prior to the first round. ALL players are expected to register. General tournament information will be distributed at registration.

Tee Times & Pairings
First round tee times and pairings will be available on the FJT website, www.floridajuniortour.org. After the completion of the first round all competitors will be repaired by score within their age group for their next round. Final round pairings will be available approximately one hour after the final score has been posted. Pairings will be posted to the FJT website and at the club. It is the players' responsibility to be at his/her respective tee at least 10 minutes prior to teeing off. We recommend that you always see your tee time in black and white and if you still have questions, please contact a FJT Official at the host facility.

Rules
USGA Rules of Golf will govern play. Review the FJT Hard Card and Pace of Play policy. The Notice to Players (local rules and hole locations) will be distributed on the starting tee.

Pace of Play
Pace of play will be strictly enforced with anticipated rounds less than 4 hours and 30 minutes. We strongly recommend that all players read and understand the FJT Pace of Play policy.

Spectator Carts
Spectators will be authorized to rent carts, but must follow the Spectator policies. Spectator carts will cost $25 plus tax per day. Spectator carts may be limited and are available on a first-come, first served basis.
