72nd Four-Ball Championship

Bradenton Country Club - Bradenton

August 14-15, 2021

Drogosch & Zheng Survive Playoff to Win

BRADENTON, Fla. – Sampson Zheng and Grant Drogosch survived three playoff holes to capture the 72nd Four-Ball Championship on Sunday at Bradenton Country Club. The team finished the weekend 13-under 129 and secured the victory with a birdie on the third playoff hole.

This is the first FSGA championship win for both Zheng and Drogosch.

Beginning the final round in a tie for the lead, Zheng and Drogosch got the day started with a 2-under front side to sit three shot back of Carson Brewer and Brock Blais. Zheng birdied two the first three holes on the back side to pull back into a tie for the lead.

The teams added two more birdies on the 15th and 17th, finishing the day with a final-round 65 to force a playoff with Brewer and Blais.

Blais got off to a hot start for his team, birdieing the first two holes of the day to give himself and Brewer the solo lead at 9 under. Brewer added a birdie on the sixth and the duo made the turn with the lead at 1- under. They extended their lead with a birdie on the 11th

On the 18th, Blais rolled in a 10-foot par putt to hold a share of the lead at 13-under 128. Zheng finished with a par on the 18th hole to send himself and Drogosch to a playoff against Brewer and Blais.

After both sides finished with par on the first two playoff holes, they headed to the par-4 ninth hole. Brewer was on the front edge of the green in two shot. His 50-foot birdie putt ricocheted off the flagstick and he tapped in for par. Blais was just long of the green and hit his chip shot to a few inches short.

After Drogosch finished out with a par, Zheng was left with 10 feet to capture the win. His birdie putt caught the left edge and fell to give himself and Drogosch the 72nd Four-Ball Championship.

Brewer and Blais took home a runner-up finish.

Connor Holfcroft and Logan Neel finished the weekend in third place at 12-under 130. The team made a run at the title, with Neel birdieing four-straight on Nos. 14-17 and Holcroft adding another on the 18th. They finished with a final-round 64.

Chip Brooke and Marc Dull also made a play at the title on Sunday, firing a final-round 63. The duo birdied five of the last seven holes to take a share of fourth place with Kiko Coelho and Leo Herrera at 11-under 131.
