September 23-24, 2000

Puskarich & Stones Win

At the southern championship, first round leaders Mark Puskarich of Winter Garden and Fred Stones of Orlando followed their first-round 65 with a 67 to win by three shots over a trio of teams. Standing in second place was Ft. Lauderdale's Steven Sim and Wellington’s Stephen Marotta (66-69); Winter Haven's Bruce Scamehorn and Auburndale's Tim O’Neil (67-68), and Miami Beach's Frank Strafaci and Ft. Lauderdale's Rick Woulfe (69-66).

The Mid-Senior Four-Ball Championships were amateur golfers over the age of 40. The competition used the four-ball stroke play format. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners with each playing their own ball. The lower score of the players is the score for the hole.

The championship was the 14th of 17 state championships conducted annually by the Florida State Golf Association. The FSGA was formed in 1913 to preserve, promote and protect amateur golf in the state.
