Playoffs Needed at Mid-Senior Four-Ball

Brian Keenan and Paul Royak captured the Mid-Senior Four-Ball North Championship at Reunion Resort & Club, in Reunion.  The event was conducted on September 13-14.

The duo from Tampa, Brian Keenan and Paul Royak posted a tournament total of 17-under par 127 to capture the title after prevailing in a playoff.  In the first round the pair fired an impressive round of 10-under par 62 to hold a one stroke lead heading into the final round of play.  In the final round, the pair posted another great round of seven-under par 65, but found themselves tied with Chad Ibbotson, of Sanford and Thad Hudgens, of Longwood after their rounds of 63-64. The teams would head for a sudden death playoff where Keenan and Royak would prevail for the title.  Rob Maddox, of Lynn Haven, and Mike Riley, from Panama City, finished alone in third place with a tournament total of 14-under par 130.
 
The Mid-Senior Four-Ball Championships are each 36 holes of four-ball stroke play. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners, each playing their own ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole. The field is flighted after 18 holes. To be eligible, players must be 40 years of age or older and members of the FSGA.

Due to a scheduling conflict, the site has been moved to The Reunion Resort - Watson Course, in Reunion.

The Mid-Senior Four-Ball is a perfect opportunity for a golfing road trip with a buddy.  Two days of four-ball flighted after day one, make for an enjoyable and competitive golfing environment. For a look at the 2013 Championship Results click here. 

Championship Format

  • 48 teams; 96 players
  • 36 holes of four-ball stroke play

Eligibility 

  • Male amateurs must be age 40 or older as of September 13, 2014, and both entrants must be members of the FSGA.

Entry Fee

  • $310 per team - GHIN Members or Foundation Member
  • $330 per team - Non-GHIN Members

Late entries will be accepted subject to a $10 late entry fee should the entrant gain acceptance into the field

Schedule of Events 

Saturday, September 13th
  • 7:30 AM - 9:40 AM - Round One tee times off of #1
Sunday, September 14th
  • 7:30 AM - 9:40 AM - Final Round tee times off of #1
  • Awards ceremony immediately following the completion of play

Course Set-Up

The golf course will be set-up at approximately 6,600-6,700 yards.

Flights

After 18 holes. The number of flights will be based on the number of teams and/or the range of scores.

Practice Rounds

Practice rounds are available one week prior to the championship.  Practice rounds may be played after 12:00 PM on the weekend.  The price for your practice round is $50.00 + tax.  Please call (386) 246-5435 to arrange your practice round.  The proper place to practice your golf swing is on the driving range, hitting multiple shots on the course is unacceptable.

Carts

Carts are included for all competitive rounds. Players are responsible for practice round fees.

The duo of Thad Hudgens, from Longwood, and Chad Ibbotson, from Sanford, shot a team total of 68-64--132 to win the Mid-Senior Four-Ball North by 2 strokes at Victoria Hills Golf Club.
