PGA GC - St. Lucie Trail Golf Club (13-15)

PGA Golf Club - St. Lucie Trail GC, Port St. Lucie, FL

September 26-27, 2015

Four under-par scores were carded  in the boys' division after round one on Saturday. Alberto Martinez, the 2015 Boys' Junior Amateur Champion from Weston moved into first place with a two-under par 70. Following close behind, Anthony Muttillo, Brett Roberts, and Ryan Goldfarb tied for second place at one-under par, 71.

Round two started as a close race. Martinez could not hold onto his lead as he struggled to a second round five-over par, 77, and tournament total 147. Martinez fell to a fifth place finish while Alexander Vogelsong, of Palm City made his way towards first place. Vogelsong birdied holes six, eight, ten, and eleven for an impressive three-under par 69. Muttillo, of Boca Raton played a steady round with two birdies combating a double-bogey for an even par, 72. Muttillo and Vogelsong finished tied for first with a tournament total one-under par, 143.  The 18th hole determined the winner in a sudden-death playoff. After Vogelsong hit his second shot out-of-bounds, Muttillo sealed his victory with a par and earned his first win on the Florida Junior Tour.

Mimi (Xiaoyi) Chen had an early round one lead after a two-over par, 74, in the girls' division. Three players, Alexa Pano, Taylor Roberts, and Taylor Zeng, tied for second place, one stroke behind, after round one. As others faced difficult rounds, Sophie Guo, of Bluffton, South Carolina, came back with a one-over par 73 to move up to the top. Alexa Pano fought hard to seize first place but after a double-bogey on the fourth hole she fell to a second place finish, 75-76--151. Sophie posted rounds of 77-73--150 to win by one-stroke! Chen finished in fourth place after a day two score of 79 and 153 tournament total.

The Florida Junior Tour is now in full-swing and the next event in line is at The Country Club of Naples for the 16-18 age division, October 3-4. Both age divisions will meet at Rocky Bayou Country Club, in Niceville, October 10-11. Click here to view the schedule!
