Pensacola CC (16-18 & 13-15)

Pensacola Country Club - Pensacola

March 23-24, 2013

FJT Winners Announced at Pensacola CC

The Florida Junior Tour wrapped up today in the panhandle with four winners at Pensacola Country Club in Pensacola, FL.

In the 16-18 Boys division, Henry Westmoreland followed his impressive 3-under 69 with an even-par 72-141. This gave Henry a three shot lead over Davis Bower, who shot 71-73-144.

Tyler Strafaci captured his third FJT victory for the year in the Boys 13-15 age division.  Following his first day score of 70, Strafaci got off to a hot start on the final day, shooting 34 on the front nine.  After birdying both of the par-5’s on the front, Tyler continued his birdie streak on holes 10, 11, and 13.  Unfortunately, an errant drive on hole 15 left him with his only over-par score of the day (double bogey), but he quickly bounced back on hole 16 by draining his birdie putt, finishing his final round with a score of 68.  Tyler’s 6-under tournament round score gave him a seven-stroke lead over Austin Hitt.

On the girls’ side, Kaeli Jones captured her first FJT victory in the Girls 16-18 division with a 76-78-154.  Kaeil’s 154 left her with a three-stroke win over Mallory Etcheberry, who fired a final day 74.

The Girls 13-15 age division went down to the wire between Madison Pacheo and Lauren Miller, until Pacheco birdied 16, 17, and 18 to pull away from the field with a three-shot victory over Lauren Miller.  This is the Pensacola native’s second FJT win; her first win was at Perdido Bay last November.

The next two Florida Junior Tour events will take place on April 13-14 at Lake Wales Country Club and Viera East Golf Course.

Founded in 1902, Pensacola Country Club enjoys a long and storied history as one of the oldest private clubs in the state of Florida. While the Club enjoys a rich past, its facilities are modern, including a golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool and clubhouse. Designed by Jerry Pate, the golf course opened in the fall of 2006. Completed in January 2008, the two-story clubhouse commands a magnificent view of Pensacola Bay and a dramatic Par 3 finishing hole.

Pace of play will be strictly enforced with anticipated rounds to be less than 4 hours and 45 minutes. We strongly recommend that all players and parents read and understand the Pace of Play Policy.
