Senior Four-Ball Championship

The TwinEagles Club - Naples

October 17-18, 2006

Briggs & Warner Win Senior Four-Ball

The Ocala duo of Randy Briggs and Berger Warner posted a pair of 66’s to capture the Senior Four-Ball Championship at The Club at TwinEagles in Naples on October 17-18.

After the first round of play, Briggs and Warner trailed the leading team by two strokes. The pair came out strong in the final round to match their first round score of 66 and edge out the field by one stroke to win the Championship. This win marks Warner’s second State Championship this year after winning the Senior Amateur Match Play in July and adds to Briggs’ 1996 Four-Ball Championship.

Three teams finished just one back from the leaders with a tournament total of 133 including first round leaders Felix Bertucci and Curt Madson. Bertucci, of Gulfport, MS, and Madson, of Mount Dora, led with a first round 64 and finished with a 69 in the final round. Dan Smith, of Naples, and Steve Baker, from Bonita Springs, surged into a tie for second place firing a 63 in the final round, the low round of the Championship. Andy Higgins, of Braselton, GA, and Mike Tucker, of Ponte Vedra Beach, also took a share of second place shooting a 68-65.

Teams of two, each 55 years of age or older, played 36 holes of four-ball stroke play in the Championship. The field of 52 was flighted after 18 holes.
