Wang Fires 64, Bradley Plays Extra Holes

The threat of Tropical Storm Isaac forced tournament officials to cancel Sunday's final round and inform everyone that the Florida Junior Tour event at Worthington Country Club would be an 18-hole tournament. The players knew that they would have go low to have a chance to win and Robin Wang did just that!

In the Boys Division, Robin Wang, 13, from Lake Mary, started his round on the back nine and made four birdies in the first eight holes. A three putt on the 18th green would lead to his only bogey of the day and he would make the turn at three under, 33. On the front nine Wang made three birdies and an eagle to shoot 31 and finish with a 64 (-8) on the day. Wang tied the third lowest score in FJT history in the 13-15 age division and his win guarantees him a spot in the season ending Tour Championship being held at TPC Sawgrass in December.

Jack Tianyi Cen, from Bradenton, shot a two-under par 70 to finish alone in second place, his best FJT finish. Four players tied for third place with even par rounds of 72; Stefano Butti, Daniel Whelan, Philip Knowles, and Andrew Potter.

In the Girls Division, Emma Bradley and Kendall Griffin finished tied at four over par 76 and atop the leaderboard at day's end. The duo went to the par 3 5th hole for a sudden death playoff. This was the first ever playoff experience for Bradley, a twelve year old from Naples and she prevailed by making par while Griffin, of Sebring, made bogey. This is Bradley's first FJT victory and also secures a spot for her in the Tour Championship. Gianna Tomeo, of Bradenton finished alone in third with a 77 after an untimely pace of play penalty to her group kept her out of the playoff.

Pace of Play

The FJT uses a checkpoint pace of play policy that provides no verbal warnings throughout the round. Each group is responsible for playing under the allotted time or finishing each checkpoint hole within 15 minutes of the group ahead of them.

Pace of play will be strictly enforced with anticipated rounds to be less than 4 hours and 45 minutes. We strongly recommend that all players and parents read and understand the Pace of Play Policy.
