FJT Harbor Hills Open (9-12)

Harbor Hills Country Club - Lady Lake

May 21-22, 2022

LADY LAKE, FL - Although the rain held off, the hot conditions on Saturday, paired with the breezy conditions on Sunday, made this weeked a true test for players of all ages.

Boys 11-12

Darren Zhou put together an impressive wire-to-wire finish this weekend. Coming out of the gates, he shot the low score of the day in Round 1 with a 67 (-5), to hold a two shot lead over both Maxwell Morgan & Cooper Foegen, who both shot 69 (-3). Knowing he had to go low on Sunday, Zhou did just that by putting together another fantastic round of 68 (-4) to finish the weekend at 9 Under. Event with the impressive two day total, Zhou only squeaked out a two shot victory over Morgan. Finishing close behind at 4 Under, were both Nemo Tsai & Chase Bauer, who both finished in a tie for third. This becomes Zhou's second win in his only two FJT starts.

Girls 13-15

Ava Zhang carded the only two even par rounds or better within her division, en route to her nine shot victory. Zhang started off the event coming inwith a score of 70 (-2) in order to attain a four shot lead over Marley Pedrique. As soon as the round started on Sunday, Zhang never looked back, and got the job done by shooting a smooth even par round of 72. Marley Pedrique held on to finish second in the event, while Lilliana Ford snuck into third place by shooting a Round 2 score of 75 (+3). Despite her stellar play in past events, this becomes Ava's first FJT victory.

Boys 9-10

After the completion of Round 1, we had a tie at the top between Benny Minter & Bobby Jones Potash who both came in with a score of 73 (+1). On Sunday morning, Minter started off hot and carded a 35 (-1) on the front nine to pull ahead of the field by three shots. Heading to the difficult back nine, Minter was able to grow his lead to five shots, and capture his first FJT victory in his first start. Benny Ossi moved into second place by finishing with a 75 (+3) on Sunday, and Jones Potash finished third with a day two score of 80 (+8).

Girls 9-10

Alexandra Phung played fantastic golf from start to finish, as she started off the tournament with a 71(-1) to attain a six shot leading heading into Sunday morning. While many may coast to vicotry, Alexandra did quite the opposite and topped her impressive Round 1 score with an even more impressive round of 67 (-5) on Sunday to capture a ten shot victory Rounding out the top three and also playing great golf this weekend was Keira Shavitranuruk (+4) & Chloe Wang (+11). This becomes Alexandra's 5th FJT victory in her last 5 starts, continuing her very impressive streak, which started back in April of 2021.

Five FJT Standards

Competing at beautiful clubs around the state is a privilege and it is important for all of our players and parents to place value on the following five duties:

  • Say please and thank you to the club staff and our volunteers
  • Rake bunkers
  • Fix ball marks
  • Step on/repair your divots
  • Throw away your garbage! There should never be trash on the ground anywhere on the course (place trash in waste receptacles, golf carts or even your bag if no other place is available).

Showing Appreciation and Proper Manners - At all courses where juniors play, they should show appreciation to the members and staff. To all of our junior players, let's show the clubs that you are not only the most talented golfers in the country, but also the most respectful. A "thank you" to the club and taking care of the course are the best ways to make a positive impression on the club, fellow players, coaches and spectators.

How to Enter

Entries are submitted through the FSGA website. To enter, each player must create an FSGA account on this website (free to set-up), purchase a current Junior Membership ($40), and have an active Florida GHIN Handicap (included in membership if golfer does not already have one). To proceed, click the "Enter" button above once entries have opened.

Late Entry Fee: A late fee of $10 will be applied to entries submitted after the close of entries date. The entry fee and late fee will only be applied if the player gets accepted in to the tournament field.

Practice Rounds

Practice rounds are available one week prior to the tournament on a space-available basis. Tee times are only available after 12:00 noon the weekend prior.  The price for a practice round is $35.00 + tax. Please call (352) 753-7000 to arrange your practice round. The proper place to practice your golf swing is on the driving range, hitting multiple shots on the course, not filling divots, and not repairing ball marks are unacceptable and may cause removal from the tournament without a refund.
