McLauchlan and Whitley Win at Stone Creek

OCALA, Fla. – Andrew McLauchlan and Aaron Whitley took home Florida Junior Tour Major victories on Sunday at Stone Creek Golf Club. McLauchlan was victorious in the Boys 13-18 Division, while Whitley captured the win in the Girls 13-18 Division.

This is the second FJT win for Mcaluchlan and third for Whitley.

Boys 13-18 Division

McLauchlan picked up the win in the Boys 13-18 Division with a 12-under for the three-day championship. He took the 36-hole lead with a second-round 66, carding four birdies and an eagle to begin the final round with a one-shot lead over the field.

The Neptune Beach native started Sunday with a 1 under on the front side. McLauchlan birdied two of the first four holes on the back nine to move to 11 under for the tournament. He added another birdie on the 16th to post a 4-under 68 to secure the four-shot victory.

Max Barile took home second place at 8-under 208, finishing the tournament with a final-round 68. Campbell Kennedy finished third at 7-under 209, while Shawn Coultoff and Colton Swartz tied for fourth at 6-under 210.

Girls 13-18 Division

Whitley earned the six-shot win in the Girls 13-18 Division, finishing the weekend with a 11-under 205. She held the lead after 36 holes, after beginning the tournament with rounds of 65-73, to hold a one-shot lead over the field

The Sarasota native got off to quick start in the final round, carding a bogey-free front nine with a birdie. Whitley continued her strong play on the back side, adding four birdies including three straight, to finish the day with a 5-under 67.

Karoline Tuttle continued her strong play, taking home a second-place finish, after capturing the win at Eagle Creek Golf & Country Club last weekend. Tuttle posted a 5-under 211 for the tournament, carding a final-round 72.

Juliana Camargo and Jacqueline Putrino finished tied for third at 4-under 212.

Tournament Summary

Course: Stone Creek Golf Club

Format: 54 holes individual gross stroke play

Eligibility: Boys and Girls 13-18 (age calculated from the last day of the event)
- FJT Membership
- Florida GHIN required (24.0 or less)
Must have at least one active FJT exemption to be eligible

Entry Fee: $110

Field Determination: Fully exempt players entered on a first-come-first-serve basis, entries accepted based on number of exemptions (most to least) pending there are still spots in the field, 84 player field

Practice Round Information: $25 +tax


Divisions and Approximate Yardages

  • Boys 13-18 Age Division - 6,800 yards (gross only)
  • Girls 13-18 Age Division - 5,800 yards (gross only)

How Entries are Accepted

  • Players with full exemptions will be given priority and entered into the field on a first-come-first serve basis
  • After that, if there is still space available in the field, entries will be accepted based on how many active exemptions a player has (most to least).
  • If necessary, a random draw will be used to break exemption ties for the last available spots in the field.
  • STEP exemptions only count towards the number of active exemptions if there is still space available to fill the field.

12:00 PM - 1:57 PM - Round one tee times off the 1st and 10th tees

Sunday, September 6th

7:45 AM - 9:42 AM - Round two tee times off the 1st and 10th tees

Monday, September 7th

7:45 AM - 9:42 AM - Final round tee times off the 1st & 10th tees
Awards ceremony immediately following the completion of play

How to Enter

Entries are submitted through the FSGA website. To enter, each player must create an FSGA account on this website (free to set-up), purchase a current Junior Membership ($40), and have an active Florida GHIN Handicap (included in membership if golfer does not already have one). To proceed, click the "Enter" button above once entries have opened.

Late Entry Fee: A late fee of $10 will be applied to entries submitted after the close of entries date. The entry fee and late fee will only be applied if the player gets accepted in to the tournament field.


Practice Rounds

Practice rounds are available one week prior to the tournament on a space-available basis. Tee times are only available after 12:00 noon the weekend prior.  The price for a practice round is $25.00 + tax. Please call (352) 854-1272 to arrange your practice round. The proper place to practice your golf swing is on the driving range, hitting multiple shots on the course, not filling divots, and not repairing ball marks are unacceptable and may cause removal from the tournament without a refund.
